[edit] Chinese names
Hi; this article is looking great already! Could I ask that someone who is knowledgeable please add the correct Chinese names for both place and street names in parentheses? I've never had much success pronouncing the romanisations, and it was always easier just to point a local at the page containing the relevant location in Chinese, and it'd be easy to get directions. Thanks! (Dewet 05:52, 23 Dec 2004 (EST))
[edit] No rough areas
"Furthermore, despite its size, Taipei does not have any rough areas that are considered unsafe, even at night - which in itself is attractive."
Wow, that's amazing! Every town I've ever been to has some rough areas. Cool article! Thanks.
[edit] Taipei County/Taipei City
Taipei City is not in Taipei County. They are totally independant political entities. No one in Taiwan will say Taipei City, Taipei County. Even the admistrative headquaters for the county are not located in Taipei City, but in Banciao.
- Me too. See Wikipedia's entry, complete with informative map. Jpatokal 23:33, 3 Jan 2006 (EST)
- My error! Thanks for the correction. --Evan 23:38, 3 Jan 2006 (EST)
- I don't care how this is organized, as long as the you stop making Taipei isIn Taipei (note the lack of disambiguation). -- The Commitee to Remove isIn Loops
[edit] Jing Hua City
I'd wager a fairly large amount that "京華城" is a shopping mall somewhere in Taipei, not an actual city, because that's what 城 usually means these days. No idea where it is though... Jpatokal 23:06, 4 July 2007 (EDT)
- Yep, you are correct. In English it is called Core Pacific Living Mall and it is on 八德路四段138號. WindHorse 23:24, 4 July 2007 (EDT)
[edit] printing
I have Firefox 2.0.0.2 and I can't get this article to print. I tried making it shorter and it still didn't print. 02:39, 13 December 2007 (EST)
It does print in Internet Explorer. Except for the Chinese characters. If somebody knows how to load those fonts... DeepPurple 09:10, 15 December 2007 (EST) I found it : look for "language pack chinese" on Microsoft.com and download the 'Simplified Chinese Language Pack'... DeepPurple 15:49, 21 December 2007 (EST)
- For Taiwan you need the Traditional Chinese Language Pack, not Simplified. 123.193.196.194 09:10, 5 January 2008 (EST)

[edit] Food pictures
I added pictures of Taiwanese night market food from the food list. But I don't have them all, so if someone else is living near a Taiwanese night market, please go there, have a good snack and take a picture of it for our fellow travelers. SuperMidget 11:07, 28 August 2008 (EDT)
Hi SuperMidget. The pictures are great but I've noticed that the amount of pictures has caused the Taipei article to be formatted funny, its too large for the page. Also noticed that a lot of images aren't appearing in the article. Is someone able to fix them? Or let me know how I can assist? Thanks. --MarinaK 19:14, 22 October 2008 (EDT)MarinaK.
- I've fixed the broken images (that was an embarrassing quantity!) and I agree that there may be a few too many food images. We tend to avoid galleries in Wikitravel articles, so we should remove the gallery and pick just a couple images from there to illustrate the eat section. --Peter Talk 19:27, 22 October 2008 (EDT)
- Thanks for that Peter! --MarinaK 20:19, 27 October 2008 (EDT)MarinaK.
