Talk:Sky Harbor Airport

Merge[edit]

This airport is not large enough to warrant a separate article, this info can all be covered at Phoenix#Get in, after some well-needed hacking. It's also not necessary to list every establishment, just note the noteworthy, as we do for any other destination (though at this point there's not even anything other than a list of names which is marginally useful – cacahuate talk 03:58, 2 November 2008 (EST)

I disagree. This airport is also the primary point of entry for much of southern Arizona. Cities such as Tempe and Scottsdale also heavily use this airport. Burying this information only in the Phoenix page would make it a little harder to find for people visiting these other cities. Separating it out as a separate page facilitates linking to it from the Tempe or Scottsdale pages and avoids duplicating information. Simplylost 17:57, 4 February 2009 (EST)
Per Wikitravel:What_is_an_article#Exceptions, only city-sized airports get their own articles. The only airport articles that have been accepted (to my knowledge) are O'Hare International Airport, Kansai International Airport, and Heathrow Airport. Sky Harbor doesn't even come close to meeting this well-established criterion, so I'm going to just plunge forward and trim out all the fat (and there's a ton of unnecessary fat here, and merge to Phoenix. Having a separate article makes it no more easier to link to—you can just link straight to Phoenix#By plane. --Peter Talk 14:06, 17 April 2009 (EDT)
