[edit] Accommodation on Mt. Kinabalu

My wife and I arrived in KK on Sep. 1, 2007, with the assurance (from Lonely Planet and other sources) that it was easily possible to book accommodation on the mountain a week in advance. We went to the office of Sutera-whatsis (sorry, terribly sluggish Internet connection and I don't want to go back and look up the name right now), where booking is handled, only to find out that the entirety of September is booked solid. They assured us that it's like this year-round these days, and that up to 6 months' advanced booking may be required. Anyway, it ruined our plans for the hike, but we still plan to visit the national park and walk the lower trails. Hopefully I'll get good photos of the mountain from below.
