So, are these reachable in a day trip from Melbourne? Would you stay there overnight? I'm wondering if we need a full article for this, or if it should go under the Melbourne one. --Evan 14:00, 15 Dec 2003 (PST)

Good questions. Easily reachable in a day trip. Could sleep there though - there are numerous places to sleep. The answer may be determined by asking what the optimum size of an article should be. Melbourne is now 32k (as I write, the 3rd biggest article in Wikitravel) and I guess it will expand with more detail over time. Nurg 01:03, 19 Jan 2004 (EST)
I guess the big thing is differentiating between a destination and an attraction. The would-you-sleep-there metric is one rule of thumb we've been using, but it's obviously imperfect (we don't have articles for individual hotels or individual beds, even though you may sleep there). --Evan 11:38, 19 Jan 2004 (EST)

Mount Dandenong is positively littered with guesthouses and bed-and-breakfast places. Lots of people stay there... It's a very popular place for weekend getaways, and also for daytrips from the city. I was just looking at the Melbourne article and I'd reiterate my former argument - it's getting too freaking long for its own good and it NEEDS to be broken up into subpages, not lengthened more.
