The article says originally a French colony. This is either a major piece of British history that has completely passed me by; or a rather odd use of the word colony; or wrong. Unfortunately the author of this is anonymous; posting this in the hope they or someone else can elaborate. [edit] Does Tooting deserve an article

I'm far from sure that Tooting has enough in the way of stuff for visitors to justify an article. I note that the original anonymous contributor said nothing of interest to a visitor; and it isn't in our goals to list all the (hundreds?) of suburbs of London. I've added in the standard heading; my suggestion is leave this for (say) a month and see if the original contributor or someone else wants to fill in more visitor relevant detail (if there is any); if not we should unlink and delete. -- Chris j wood 20:17, 5 Sep 2004 (EDT)
