Talk:Kaohsiung
From Wikitravel
There's quite a bit of stuff that's hardly specific to Kaohsiung (or even Taiwan) here now -- eg. the tips on learning Chinese (→ Chinese phrasebook), the legal requirements for getting a job (→ Taiwan and also a pointer in Teaching English), meal etiquette (→ Taiwan or even China), etc. Are you OK with me moving this stuff out? I don't want to get into an edit war here... Jpatokal 23:51, 7 May 2006 (EDT)
Oh come one walking in Kaohsiung isn't that bad! "tantamount to suicide"...However the article is right about the fact that pedestrians are "at the will of anything and everything around him or her". Fact is, in contrary to western countries where pedestrians usually have priority, in Taiwan, esp in Kaohsiung, if you are walking, then you are responsible for looking out for yourself. Taxis, scooters, and other cars will NOT stop for you (they might not even brake). orcalee 16:34, Dec 18 2006 (EDT)
- Hi Orcalee. I have amended the text taking into account your views as well as my own thoughts on the matter (though it has been some years since I have been to Kaohsiung). I hope the result is acceptable to all. WindHorse 21:58, 18 December 2006 (EST)
