Talk:Delaware Valley
From Wikitravel
[edit] Hierarchy
I'd like to see some commentary to make me see how this article could possibly jive with our geographical hierarchy. It is a single region article shared by several states but encompassing only part of each state, which seems to make this article sort of overlap, since clicking on a subregion from a state article takes you to a region article which is bigger than just that subregion. Under normal circumstances this would be broken up into Delaware Valley (Pennsylvania), Delaware Valley (Delaware), etc., and in that case this article would clearly be redundant/overlapping in that not-so-wikitravel way. What to do? Texugo 03:51, 5 March 2008 (EST)
- Not only that, but I just noticed that the Maryland and Delaware articles don't even link here, and New Jersey has its own separate Delaware River Region article which, again, doesn't even link here. How can we clean this up? Texugo 03:54, 5 March 2008 (EST)
- I don't see a serious problem with having this sort of regional article. A river valley is a natural geographical region, so it is likely to be stable and well defined. Counties and even states tend to be more politically contrived, often as a result of some quirk of history, or the stroke of a surveyor's pen, so may not be the best way to organise travel. Geography constrains travel, so this region could become a way to group destinations across several states. - Huttite 22:16, 3 January 2010 (EST)
