[edit] A "stupid" place to visit?
There has been language reverted from this article of the form "There is nothing on the island so 'travel' there would be stupid!". See Wikitravel:Tone, Wikitravel:Be fair and Wikitravel:Don't tout (specifically: give the traveller the information they need to decide on their own) for an understanding of why this language is being reverted - to briefly summarize, it's not the job of a travel guide to tell someone what they're going to think about a place, it's the job of a travel guide to provide an accurate description of a place so a traveler can decided if they want to visit, and will then have the information they need about that place if they do visit. It's fine to describe this island as remote, difficult to reach, and offering minimal services, but it's not OK to say that a visit there is a stupid idea - let the traveler make up his or her own mind. -- Ryan 21:25, 17 September 2006 (EDT)
- Sorry, but I have to say after reading about it that Clipperton Island sounds like an awesome place to visit. --Evan 21:50, 17 September 2006 (EDT)
