Does Mitte really need no less than 4 districts, with the ensuing amount of duplication? I'm tempted to say that for a city of 3.4 million Berlin is now severely overdistricted. Jpatokal 11:51, 15 Nov 2004 (EST)
The problem is, that berlin is very large, despite its 3.4 Mio inhabitants. its for instance 9 times bigger than Paris and has been growing over the centuries by absorbing little villages like Spandau or Köpenick.
That's why it makes perfect sense to use the districts, because most of them have "their own" history and are different in the appearance and lifestyle (ie. Somebody living in Köpenick would probably never go to Spandau in his lifeteime except for a very special reason).
Of course the foolish Government decided to save some money and merge some of the older districts for no other reason than that. But to distinguish between districts is needed. Some pages might be short though. SonarTom 09:47, 26 June 2007 (EDT)
- A lot of this article should be updated, the Bodemuseum is opened since october 2006
 Bode Museum (Museuminsel)
I removed this museum temporarily... does anyone know if it has completed reconstruction? This listing says it is closed until 2006, but since it's 2008, I tried to find something that confirmed the end of the construction.
- The Bodemuseum (Museuminsel) is closed until 2006 for renovations and usually exhibits Byzantic arts and impressive coin collection.
