In heed of the "no external travel guides" policy I'm not putting this on the main page, but this is such a stupendously good guide that I'm sorely tempted to make an exception:

And oh yes, the list of 88 temples is borrowed from Wikipedia, as lists of public info with no significant creative input (it's a translation of the Japanese version) aren't eligible for copyright. Jpatokal 08:50, 28 Jul 2005 (EDT)
