Taftan is a border city of Pakistan. It is located on RCD highway which connects Turkey,Iran and Pakistan. RCD highway is a well built road and it takes you East wards to Quetta and then southwards to Karachi. Taftan derives its name from the mountain peak which is on the Iranian side of border and is snow capped in winters. Taftan is famous for trade items going from Indian subcontinent to Iran and vice versa. Afghan border is also very close to the city. It is a major smuggling area for drugs, oil, carpets, movies etc. If you are out of the main highway you can get lost in the desert without water.
