Ta'izz is a city in the South of the Yemeni Mountains. It is better developed than most Yemeni cities, with very good roads. It is also reasonably clean. Being around 130m above sea level means that the climate is quite pleasant throughout the year.

• The castle which is on a hill above the city. Nicely illuminated at night.
• There is a good road all the way to the top of the Al Aruss mountain, some 3000m above sea level.

There are some reasonable simple hotels in the town centre. The best and most expensive is the Al Saeed.

• Al Saeed Hotel, Al Domaleh Mountain Al Hoban, ☎ (+967)4/200311, [1]. Used to be a Sofitel. Perched on a hill top overlooking the city. A very good almost 4 star hotel. It is the best in the city and possibly in the country. It has clean and modern rooms, wireless internet throughout (bad signal in the rooms though). Swimming pool. $180.
