Coal mining and services town of about 6000 people (down from 16000 just 20 years ago). Susuman is not known for its architectural grandure or any other reason.
The city can be covered on foot. There are bus services to nearby towns and even to Magadan, though not daily.
The park is relatively attractive. The main street has the usual selection of concrete buildings and several mining company headquarters. About 4 blocks from the hotel is a building with the front of a plane sticking out of the second story: it houses an aviation youth club.
There is a hotel above the bus station next to the main turnoff for the town (after the bridge, if going towards Magadan). For 400 rubles a night, you get a room with a bed, a TV with 3 channels, and one shared bathroom with optional plumbing.
There is no internet cafe, but mobile telephones will work. There is an MTC mobile store.
If hitchhiking, it is necessary to get a short lift about 4 km down the road, beyond the final junction with an outlying village. This applies in both directions.
