Swedish is the spoken language on the island but most people speak good English. Don’t be surprised if you are saluted when you are traveling around on the island. It is common praxis on Sturkö to wave when you met someone on the street. Even if you sit in a car people walking will wave at you. Just reply with a short wave and a friendly smile.
