Swedish is the spoken language on the island but most people speak good English. Don’t be surprised if you are saluted when you are traveling around on the island. It is common praxis on Sturkö to wave when you met someone on the street. Even if you sit in a car people walking will wave at you. Just reply with a short wave and a friendly smile.

Regular ferries depart daily from Karlskrona to Sturkö and Tjurkö
Car is adviced, but the island can be easily navigated with bicycles.
Stop by the scenic windmill for light lunch, local artist gallery or a lovely coffee, with a view overlooking the bay of Bredavik.
Sturkö is extremely safe. Take care when driving as certain roads become increasingly narrow.
