Travel Warning WARNING: Most governments advise against travel to the southern region of Somalia since large swathes are currently under the rule of the Salafist extremist faction, al Shabab and is also home to much of the open fighting in Somalia! In 2014, Kenyan and Ethiopian forces have made some inroads into the region. Travel to Southern Somalia is extremely dangerous and at the moment should not be considered a travel destination for any reason! The ability of officials to provide consular assistance is extremely limited. . (06 November 2014)
