South Bend [1] is in north central Indiana. The town's name is drawn from a bend in the St. Joseph River. South Bend is the home of the University of Notre Dame.

• Chicago - The South Shore Line station at the South Bend transportation center offers direct service to downtown Chicago. If you get bored of looking around or staying at the great University of Notre Dame campus, take the train and spend the day there.

• Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore - Go and see the beautiful park off the coast of Lake Michigan. This is where Chicago gets most of its sand to fill their beaches.
