Soest is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Reaching Soest by train is easy, and the station is very close to the historic old city.

  • The historic old city (Altstadt) is interesting to wander about, and has a number of medieval cathedrals.
  • It is not far from Soest to Mohnesee (the Mohne dam). The Sperrmauer (dam wall) was breached during the second World War by RAF bombers in Operation Chastise.
