Other destinations[edit]

Sinaloa is rather like the country of Chile in that it is a long narrow strip of land with ocean on its west and mountains in the east. As a result there are a lot of overlooked beaches and mountain playgrounds for those willing to get off the beaten path and explore a bit.

Stay safe[edit]

As of September 2015, Sinaloa has the second highest murder rate of any state in Mexico. The US State Department [1] advises citizens to defer all non-essential travel to the state, other than the resort town of Mazatlan. "Travel off the toll roads in remote areas of Sinaloa is especially dangerous and should be avoided," diplomats warn.
