Silistra (Bulgarian: Силистра) is a city in Northeastern Bulgaria.

Silistra lies on the banks of Danube and is home of about 50,000 people.

Buss and train connections to Rouse, Dobrich, Varna, Shoumen, Razgrad. Train to Sofia Via Rousse og Gorna Oryahovica. Ferry terminal /Romanian operated, 500m from border crossing point/ to Calarasi at the other side of the Danube.

  • Srebarna Nature Reserve (Природен резерват Сребърна) — Lying about 18 km west of Silistra and 2 km south of banks of Danube, close to the village of the same name, this nature reserve surrounding a quite shallow lake (3 mt of depth at its maximum) which is an important stop over point for migratory birds, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The reserve also houses a museum which exhibits stuffed animals typical to the area.
