Siak Sri Indrapura is a regency, part of Riau province. This place was known as the center of Siak Sri Indrapura Sultanate, the largest Islamic Kingdom of Riau. Siak River which flows through the regency is recognized as the deepest river in Indonesia and vital to transportation and trade.
Siak Sri Indrapura can be reached easily from Pekanbaru, either by land of by river.
There are two possible routes to reach this town. The first one is through Pekanbaru-Pangkalan Kerinci route which takes 2-3 hours. And the second one is through Rumbai-Minas-Perawang and then continued by ferry.
There is a direct boat from Sungai Duku harbor in Pekanbaru, it takes 2 hours to get to Siak Sri Indrapura.
You can also rent a car for Rp 300.000 - Rp 500.000 per day.
- Siak Sultanate Palace- The palace was built by Sultan Assyaidis Syarif Hasyim Abdul Jalil Syaiffuddin on 1889. The another name of this palace is Assirayatul Hasyimiyah. The view of this palace is magnificent, with beautiful garden encircling the whole building. The gate of this palace and the pillars are decorated by statues of eagle, symbol of Siak Sultanate. One of the famous item in this palace is a twelve century-old rare gramophone.
- Sultan Syarif Kasim II Burial Site- Sultan Syarif Kasim II is the last sultan of Siak Sri Indrapura Sultanate, before the sultanate decided to join Republic of Indonesia. The sultan was recognized as the national hero of Indonesia and his name is now used as the name of International Aiport of Pekanbaru.
- Syahabuddin Mosque- Built on 1927 and finished on 1935, this mosque reflects the name of Siak Sultan names who come from Arab, namely Sahad tribe. The second sultan, Muhammad Ali, who ruled on the period of 1770-1779 has direct Arabic descent.
- Jembatan Siak (Siak Bridge)- The bridge with original name of Tengku Sultan Agung Sultanah Latifah Bridge is one of the longest bridge in Indonesia. On the bridge there are two towers, 80 meters tall, with two elevator to the top. Both towers offer sky-dining experience with the view of the whole town of Siak. The bridge which is more than one kilometer long was inaugurated in 2007 by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
