Contents
Schwyz is a canton in Switzerland and is one of the three founding cantones of Switzerland. The historic importance of this cantone is obvious as the name is used until today for Switzerland. Schwyz is the heart of Central Switzerland.
[edit] Regions
Schwyz is structured in six counties and thirty communities with roughly 140'000 citizens. Most people live in the fewer bigger cities and the landslide is sparsely populated due to the mountainous area.

[edit] Talk
Swiss German is the mother tongue in Schwyz but Italian and French is widely spoken. Most travellers are here in summer to hike and enjoy the lakes. In winter a lot of Swiss utilize the ski resorts that are close to Zurich and Luzern e.g. Hoch-Ybrig
[edit] Get in
Schwyz is well connected by train to Zurich, Chur in Grison and Central Switzerland. The highway A3 connects the Schwyzer cities on the lake of Zurich with Zurich
[edit] Get around
Schwyz is very mountainous, so depending on your condition best options will be public transport [1] or car. Don't underestimate distances as altitude can make a medium trip quite long. If you intend to use mountain roads, even in summer be prepared for a shower and cold winds.
