Saschiz is a village in Mures, which once was a center of famous carpenters and wood painters. The local craftsmen were employed all over Transylvania to decorate castles and churches. It is now a UNESCO world heritage site.
The fortified german church, right on the mainroad. It has been built in the 15th century, in Gothic style. Today it is a UNESCO world heritage site.
The ruins up the hill. These ruins used to be a fortress, today they are left to fall apart. However there is still left a lot. The place is deserted and you can climb on the walls. The fortress built between the 14th and 15th centuries, it initially had high walls of 7-9 m), 6 fortified towers and a water well 50m deep.
Viscri village, another UNESCO world heritage site, is about 20 km away.
