Saranac Lake is a village in the Adirondacks, New York State. It lies in the towns of Harrietstown, St. Armand, and North Elba, inside the boundaries of Adirondack State Park.

You can take the Adirondack Trailways from Albany or Montreal.

Saranac Lake is safe. Its a kind town night and day. Dig the hills, woods, and water. there is bus service twice daily to Lake Placid. There is a skateboard shop and a bicycle shop. One quality of Saranac Lake is lack of heavy vehicle traffic. Walking is the perfect way to explore the town.

- There is a small, but nice, museum in the basement of the Saranac Lake Free Library.
- During the winter, there is a grand castle of ice located on Lake Flower.
- Fourth of July fireworks near Lake Flower.
- Enjoy a play at Pendragon Theater.
- Visit the Visitor Interperative Center and Wildlife Sanctuary located in Paul Smiths.
- Lake Colby has a nice beach and places to picnic in the grass near the water.

Saranac Lake has several very pleasant Art Shops. It also has book stores (one new, one used) and a fine Army Surplus store. Next door, is a beautiful Native American shop. For healthy, organic food, herbs, and peaceful atmosphere, try Noris. There are some antique stores, but if you want a real adventure, search through The Gold Mine.

- Waterhole #3 is a favorite of motercyclists and has live music most weekends.
- A new bar has opened in same building that used to hold Snuffy's Pub named Grizzle T's
- The Rusty Nail seems like a rough joint, but is usually cool.

There are a couple of coffee houses around.
The water provided by the village utility comes from McKenzie Pond, and tastes especially good.
