[edit] Understand

Santa Cruz stays almost the center of Bolivian territory. It's one of the extreme point of the Death's Train railroad. This department concentrates the major universities in Bolivia and it's responds for almost 30% of the country wealth production. And intends to separate from the central government in a way similar to Spain government system, more independent.

[edit] Talk

The main language is Spanish. However, most places (stores specially) will be able to understand Portuguese and English. If they do not speak those languages, they will probably get someone that does. The people are REALLY friendly, they will try their truly best to talk to you if you are a foreigner.

[edit] Get in

If you are coming from Brazil, you can take the Death's Train. Please, don't be scared. The name is because, in a long time ago, some diseased people tried to come from the cities by the border to Santa Cruz, to begging a therapy. But, because of the distance and time taken, most of them died in the train. So, if you are in Corumba,a Brazilian border city, you just have to cross the frontier, take a taxi to the train station in Bolivia (they don't accept Brazilian taxi drivers there) and go to the train station.Depending in with category of train you want to go, it will take a different time to get to Santa Cruz.

[edit] Get around

Get a Taxi. As simple as that. They are CHEAP and ask them whatever you want, they are FRIENDLY as well, they will take you wherever you want to go or you wish to go.

OK. This is right at my alley:

1. Cotoca (little town 30 minutes away from Santa Cruz -- EXTREMELY old and filled with culture!) 2. Brasargent (excellent restaurant) 3. El Rio Pirai (this is the river that symbolizes so much to Santa Cruz citizens) 4. Equipetrol (this is the neighborhood where ALL THE NIGHT-LIFE happens! Crazy good! Girls are BEAUTIFUL) 5. Monseñor Rivero (Boulevard Cruceño) (this is where most people spend the late afternoon portion of the days; starting at 5 PM) 6. Cine Center (good place to go ESPECIALLY on Sundays) 7. Ceasar Palace (strip club; you can watch girls strip for almost no money; sex is also available) 8. FOOD (oh man... if there is something good about my city is FOOD lol. Some great places: La Casa del Camba, Puerto Madero, El Mandarin, El Horno Caliente (you should go to El Horno Caliente any weekday at around 4:30 pm) 9. La Feria Barriolindo (not a very clean place, however, you will be AMAZED of how cheap clothing and food is in there... a must see!) 10. La Plaza... oh my god... la plaza 24 de septiembre... go on a Sunday, at around 11 PM... just feel the breeze, relax, and close your eyes. ALSO, and *very* important... get a "cafe con leche" or "cafe cortadito" from anyone who sells them, especially if you see on their shirts the name "Cafe Marcelino". Best coffee of your life. 11. Estadio Ramon Tahuichi Aguilera. You gotta go to "el clasico". It is a soccer match between Blooming and Oriente Petrolero. Go and set in PREFERENCIA... is cheap and a nice view. You will feel and see some good soccer. Hopefully Blooming will win hehe.
