Salta (province)

Salta is a province of Argentina. The western part of the province is in the Andean Northwest region, the eastern part is in the Chaco region.

  • Tren a las nubes, (Leaves from the city of Salta arrives at La Polvorilla Viaduct), [1]. Scenic train on all-day round-trip route reaching altitude of 4,200 meters making it the third highest railway in the world. Meals are served on the train and there are several stops USD 120-140.

Salta has been developping to one of the most visited provinces by national and international tourists. Therefore it offers a large range from very basic (hostels, family stay) to quiet luxurious (5* and boutique hotels) loging facilities. Smaller towns outside the tourism hotsports mostly only offer simple accomodation options.

  • Turismo Campesino, (Valles Calchaquíes), [2]. Turismo Campesino is a cooperative os small-scale farmers in the Valles Calchaquíes. After previous reservation, its members offer simple loging and eating at their homes, as well as guided tours.
