Sakya is a village in Xigatse prefecture.

Sakya is located 25 kilometres from the Friendship highway. There are regular long distance buses from Shigatse and Tingri every day. Minibuses travels frequently between Sakya and nearby Lhatze.

Sakya is a small and dirty town. It is possible to travel to different locations in the valley by horse or donkeycarriges. The price for a trip between the new Sakya monastery to the local hospital in the town is less than 0.5 USD. There are also modern automobile taxis, the quality of most cars are poor.
