Rzeszow is the capital city of Subcarpathian Voivodship, in south east Poland. It has been a private town of the Lubomirski family for centuries. It has a fine old town, two synagogues and some castles.

Some major airlines, Poland's national carriers LOT Polish Airlines, and a low cost airline Centralwings (owned by LOT) and some other low cost airlines fly to Rzeszów's Rzeszów-Jasionka (RZE). Domestic flights operated by LOT (under Eurolot brand) connect Rzeszów with i.e. Warsaw's Frederic Chopin Airport (WAW). Jasionka International Airport is near Rzeszow. Public transport to and from the airport is a not very good, with only one private bus service, which does not run very often. It's better to a taxi, though this is more expensive. Direct connections (2007) exist to Warsaw, New York, London, Bristol and Dublin.

More flights go from Krakow which is only three hours by train from Rzeszów. Other airports are in Warsaw and Katowice.

The Polish State Railways have train connections from Krakow and Lublin. There are also direct services to Lvov, Odessa and Kiev in the Ukraine.

Rzeszów is situated on the European route E40. You can easily get there by car from Krakow, Lublin and Sandomierz. Rzeszów is not served by any major motorways, though the A4 Motorway from Kraków is currently under construction and due to open before 2012.

The Old Town in city centre is small and easily manageable on foot. There are regular bus services from the centre to New Town and suburbs. Rzeszów also has a well developed network of cycle paths, though there is a lack of bicycle parking.

• The Lubomirski Palace, is situated on the edge of the edge of the old town and dates from the 18th Century. It now serves as the law courts and so the interior is generally closed to the public. However, it's well worth walking around the impressive walls.

• There are two synagogues in Rzeszów: "Small" (XVII cent.) and "Big" (XVIII cent., restored 1954-63)

• Market Square and Town Hall

Many of Rzeszow's state museums have free admission on Sunday and are closed on Monday.

• Trasa Podziemna (Underground Way), dating from the 17th Century, is a series of interconnected cellars stretching over several kilometres. The entrance is located in the Market Square.

The main shopping areas are on the pedestrianised Grundaldzka and 3'ego Maja Streets. There are several small shopping centres in the city centre. Millenium Hall, a massive shopping centre in the New Town, is due to open in summer 2008. There are many also large hypermarkets in the suburbs, most of which incorporate a small pasaż (shopping arcade).

The places worth to be visited are e.g: Irish Pub Galway /pub with irish beers and whiskeys/ or Jazz Club Gramofon /music club, restaurant, cocktail bar, coffee bar/ which are situated on the main promenade called: 3'ego Maja Street. Drinking outside is prohibited.

Lańcut is practically a suburb and well worth a visit. Further afield are Jaroslaw and the city of Przemysl.
