Ruhengeri is a city in northern Rwanda's Musanze district. It is the port of call for tourists heading up the hills to Kinigi and Parc National des Volcans.

There several bus companies who serve Kigali-Ruhengeri direction every hour. It takes 2 hours of journey to get into Ruhengeri from Kigali. Buses in Rwanda are more convenient compare to other buses in East Africa countries. One recommended bus company is Virunga Travel. The bus cost RFr 1800 for one way journey (April 2011)

It is not too impossible to get around Ruhengeri by walking. The other choice to get around is by motorcycle Taxi. The cost is around a little bit more expensive than Kigali, but it can be negotiated.
