The Vaticano district of Rome lies on the western bank of the River Tiber in the north-west quadrant of the central city. It includes and encloses the smaller independent Papal state of Vatican City.

Line A of the Metro has stops just north of the Vatican at Ottaviano & Cipro Musei Vaticani. From Central Rome, the #64 bus goes right to the southern end of the Vatican, but it is filled with pickpockets, guard your valuables.
