Rio Branco

Rio Branco is the capital of the state of Acre in Brazil.

Get in[edit]

Buses go to Porto Velho (10 hours) and beyond.

Mobil Tours go to Puerto Maldonado in Peru twice a week (Wednesday and Saturday) for 100 soles. The trip takes 10 hours.

Real Norte buses go to Brasiléia 4 times a day (R28) 4 hours and to Xapuri once a day.

Transacreana buses go all the way to Recife, in the Atlantic coast, more than 5 thousand kilometers away. Tel.: (11) 6698-7399 and (61) 8402-8418.

Rio Branco is not a tourist town and while there are some tourist sites they will not hold your interest for more than a day or two.

There are no hostels in Rio Branco.

Relatively cheap hotels (~R40) can be found near the Rodoviaria.

Hotel JK Rua Benjamin Constant 1330, close to the centro and has a friendly director. Single (R59), double (R89) and triple rooms available. Includes Wifi and a decent breakfast.
