Here is one of the oldest European settlements in New Zealand - Rawene is the third-oldest town in New Zealand. It is a picturesque village on a peninsula jutting into the Harbour about half-way up. Dolphins and Orca are often seen this far up, sometimes following the ferry that travels across the Harbour at this point.

- From South You reach Rawene coming from South on SH12, 6 km direction North.
- From North Take the ferry across the Harbour. (Terminal near Kohukohu)
