Qamdo Prefecture (Tibetan: Chamdo) is in the far east of Tibet.

Chamdo is located in the Hengduan Mountains and the three rivers (Jinsha, Lancang and Nujiang) river basin in the east of Tibet, which enjoyss a good Chamdo pearl. Since the late Qing Dynasty Chieftain set Chamdo Prefecture, the Chamdo county has been the Chamdo region's political, economic, cultural and transportation center, enjoy the reputationof "eastern Tibet portal". Centered in Chamdo town, across with Sichuan in the east, has frontiers with Yunnan south-east, is adjacent to Tibet Nyingchi in the southwest, borders Nakchu at the northwest ,connected to Qinghai province of the north and close to Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region in west, locate in commerce exchanges hub.
