Polperro [1] is a picturesque town on the South Coast of Cornwall.

Get in[edit]

By car[edit]

The very tight valley has just one road in and out. Except for authorised vehicles, the general public must park in the pay-and-display parking lot at the top of the village. It is reasonably priced but is very busy during high season.

By bus[edit]

Park in Looe, and take the bus from the doctor's surgery.

On foot[edit]

From Looe, take the well marked coastal path. This lovely walk, takes about an hour to two depending on walking speed. However, the steep climb out of Polperro may prove problematic for some.

Get around[edit]

The walk into town from the parking lot is not very steep and takes 10 min. If walking is not your thing, take a cheap horse and cart or converted milk float "tram" that will take you there and back.

See[edit][add listing]

There are a couple of art galleries on the walk from the car park to the harbour that may be worth a visit. The coastal path to the nearby town of Looe also makes a plesant walk on a summer's day.

Do[edit][add listing]

  • Sea trips from the harbour. There have been plenty of sightings of basking sharks, just off Polperro Harbour, and the converted fishing boats do 30 min round trips to see them if they are around.

Buy[edit][add listing]

In the village centre is usual array of touristy goods and souvenirs that you would find in any other seaside town in Cornwall.
