Pitt Meadows[1] is a city in the Fraser Valley, on the north bank of the Fraser River at the confluence with the Pitt River. It's part of the urban edge, where bedroom housing for suburban Vancouver is displacing the small agricultural town of Pitt Meadows past — but the farms still hang on.
[edit] Get in
[edit] By car
The most convenient access is by car, over the Pitt River Bridge and along the Lougheed Highway. Highway 1 leads from Vancouver via New Westminster to here.
- The Fraser River blocks car access from the south. Highway 1 crosses south over the Port Mann Bridge to the west, and the Albion Ferry is the next crossing to the east. A new bridge is being built at Golden Ears just east of Pitt Meadows, as part of the nationally significant (and controversial) Gateway project. The next bridge to the east currently is in Mission.
[edit] By train
The West Coast Express[3] commuter rail service, goes in to Vancouver in the morning and back out in the evening.
