Pinhel is a city and a municipality in central Portugal,located in Beira Interior Norte and belongs to the district of Guarda.Known as the " cidade Falcao ",for i`ts castle,the small city of Pinhel is surrounded by pinewoods,forests and rolling hills,being the focal place in Riba-Coa,a land notorious for i`ts castles along the Coa river valley( in Terras de Riba-Coa),inch includes,besides Pinhel, the following nearby municipalaties:Almeida,Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo,Meda and Sabugal. The Wines of Pinhel are well known. Monuments in Terras de Riba-Coa:Castles(Pinhel,Sabugal,Castelo Mendo,Marialva),pelourinhos and churchs(igrejas). During spring,when the almond(amendoeiras)trees blossom,it is beautiful,especially around the town of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo. Principal Mountain:Serra da Marofa. Principal river:Coa.
