Phippsburg is a coastal town and popular beach destination in the Greater Portland area. The town includes some of the best beaches in the area. Phippsburg is a great place to live on the coast and was the location where the popular movie Message In A Bottle was filmed.
Most people coming into Maine come from the south. If you live further than some of the closer states then you want to fly into Portland Jetport. Renting a car would be a good option because public transportation is limited in the state. From the jetport, take interstate 95 North to 295 North. Continue on 295 until you reach exit 18 into Brunswick. This is route 1. Follow Route 1 North until you reach Bath. The exit to Phippsburg will be on the right. The name of the route to get on is 209. This will take you all the way through Phippsburg.
Getting around the town is a little tricky. The roads are mostly narrow with no shoulder except for Route 209 running through most of the town. Biking is an option but it's important to watch out for cars on the back roads because often they are moving fast around 40 mph. During the tourist season (summer) there can be high traffic on the way to the beach. There is no real form of public transportation unless you want to bumb a ride on the bus with your six year old to Phippsburg Elementary School at 7 am. Most people would either rent a car from an airport or use a friends car to get around if you don't live near the state. Boating may be a good way to get around. Most of the town is surrounded by water so most places are easily accessible by boat.
When people come to Phippsburg it is important for them to see the beaches. Popham Beach State Park is a popular attraction. It costs a few dollars to park your car but is probably worth it because finding parking down by Fort Popham[] is difficult. If you want to see the beaches, Popham is the largest but also Small Point Beach is a nice area. If you like to hike the rocks then Small Point is where to go because Popham is mainly beach.
Visiting the beaches is a big part of the tourist attractions. If you have access to a boat then fishing is a must. At most convenience stores they have tackle supplies. There is a really good striper fishing spot on Parker Head road at the mouth of Mill pond. Also fishing off the beach is very popular. Usually people set eels out on a hook when their on the beach however a simple shad will catch them at the Mill pond dam.
There are lots of souvenirs at center store and at several stores at the beaches. Center store is at the intersection of Route 209 and Parker Head road and is the only gas station in town. There are no malls or large stores like Wal-Mart. These types of stores are about a half hour south to Brunswick or further to Freeport.

People must travel to Bath for groceries where there is a Shaw's supermarket. There's a Hanniford in Brunswick. There is no real bar in town but most people buy liquor at the grocery store and drink out by a campfire or out on a boat.
There are no major hotels in town but there are a handful of Bed and Breakfasts. If you travel to Bath there is a couple hotels.
The Portland Jetport will have WiFi.
Freeport is tied with the Maine Mall in Portland for the best place to shop. The Maine Mall features more of the major stores like Best Buy, JC Penny, Borders, Sports Authority, Victoria Secret, etc etc. Freeport is more specialty shops and outlets. Freeport is also the host of the popular L.L. Bean.
There a lot of parks in the state. Arcadia National Park is a great place to hike and enjoy the outdoors. White water rafting is an option if you travel up north of the coast.
Skiing is also a fun attraction in the mountains of Maine. Sunday River and Black Mountain are good places to ski in Maine. Sunday River has much more slopes with six mountain peaks to choose from.
