Pelagie Islands

Pelagie Islands are in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea and are part of Sicily, Italy.

The Pelagie are formed by the three islands of Lampedusa, Linosa and Lampione and geograficly are closer to Africa than Italy.

Lampedusa is the biggest of the three island with a population of 5800, Linosa counts only 400 and the island of Lampione is uninhabited.

The highest point of the three islands is in Linosa that has vulcanic origins and is Monte Vulcano 186m (over sea level).

Daily overnight ferries run from Porto Empedocle in Sicily, and during the summer there is a hydrofoil service.

The airport is on the island of Lampedusa and has direct flights with Sicily and Italy.
