Owings Mills is named after Samuel Owings. It was once a farming community but now boast a myriad of developments and shopping centers.

Owings Mills can be reached by Interstate 795, which is exit 19 off Interstate 695. From I-795, take exit 4 to reach many points in Owings Mills.
It can also be reached via a subway system which drops right near the mall. But once in the area, a car is necessary.

The main roads in Owings Mills are Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills Boulevard, Painters Mill Road, McDonough Road, Greenspring Valley Road.

The Baltimore Metro Subway has a final destination of Owings Mills. From here, it is about a 15-minute walk to Owings Mills Mall. Bus line nos. 56 and 59, which run frequently, can take you directly to the mall, or to points on Reisterstown Road. but a vehicle is necessary to reach most points of interest

Built in the 1980s, has been the commercial hub of Owings Mills. In recent years, many stores have closed, so shopping is limited.
