Ogunquit is a seacoast town in Maine. The name is the Algonquin Indian word for "beautiful place by the sea". It features over three miles of beautiful sandy beach.

Ogunquit possesses a decent sized gay and lesbian population, and it is thus not uncommon to see same-sex couples in public or on the beach. If you have a problem with this, you may consider other destinations. However, it is also more family oriented than other LGBT vacation spots like Provincetown, and for every same-sex couple you see, you will also see an opposite-sex couple, many times with children.

From Boston's North Station and Portland, Amtrak provides service on the "Downeaster" to the town of Wells, just north of Ogunquit.

There is no bus service direct to Ogunquit.(But you can take the train to Wells then take the local trolley to Ogunquit)

• C & J Trailways[7], provide limo/bus service from Boston's Logan International Airport to their Portsmouth, NH terminal.
• Greyhound has service to Portland.

Route 1 along the Maine coast is the scenic route. Interstate 95 is the direct route from Boston (1.25 hours) and other east coast cities. Maine Exit 7 is the Route 1 "The Yorks, Ogunquit" exit.
