Nyala is a large city in Darfur.

Nyala is an industrial city and the capital of southern Darfur. It is a major trading post for Gum arabic. Altough Nyala is in Darfur it has escaped most of the violent conflict however there are thousends of refugees in camps just outside the city.

The small Nyala Airport (IATA: UYL) have regular flights from Khartoum with Sudan Airways [1], the airline is banned from the EU due to poor saftey standards so don't expect topnotch aircrafts.

Nyala is also the western terminus of the rail network in Sudan. Services are sporadic and there is no timetable, some sources say there is a departure from Khartoum on Mondays with a journey time of about 4-5 days. Other says the train starts at Ar Rahad.
