Neyveli [1] is a township in the Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu in India.

By Road: Neyveli Township is located at about 200 KM South-West of Chennai (the state capital of Tamilnadu, India). Neyveli is well connected by Road from Chennai. The place is located on the highway to Tanjore from Chennai at about 24th KM from Panruti. There are frequent bus services available and journey time is about 4 1/2 to 5 hours.

By Rail: Travelling upto Villupuram (which is about 50 KM from Neyveli) on the main line (Chennai - Trichy) by train from Chennai and taking up bus to reach Neyveli. Frequent bus services are available from Villupuram to Neyveli.

Travelling upto Vridachalam from Chennai / Trichy by train and from there taking a bus to Neyveli. The distance from Vridachalam to Neyveli township is about 30 KM.

The soils of Neyveli and the regiosn surrounding are stuffed with rich reserves of Lignite underneath. They serve as fuel to feed the Thermal power stations constructed there. In all there are three lignite mines (Mine-I, Mine-IA, Mine-II ) and three thermal power stations (Thermal Station(TS) -I, TS-I expansion and TS-II).

The Township Administration of Neyveli had created afforestation station surrounding Neyveli for about 25 square kilometres. Moreover, the afforestation is built with an artificial waterfall and lake situated just about 5 kms from the Airstrip. The lake has been developed with a boat house and facilities for tourists as the place is visited by seasonal birds and is a mini bird sanctuary. The afforestation area has few wild animals like deer and fox for view to public, however, the same had been temporarily suspended for public viewing for 14 years.

Neyveli Township have lot of hotels.Hotel Radha is a star hotel near Bus Stand.Hotel Swarnabawan in located inside the Bus Stand is nice and cheap.Hotel Blue Diamend located in Main bazzar is good for nice vegetarian meals.
