Nevada City has warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters. Although it can be hot in summer, it almost always cools off at night, with temperatures occasionally dropping into as low as the 40s. In winter, daytime temperatures tend to be in the 40s and 50s, and nighttime temperatures are very frequently below freezing. Although it sometimes snows, winter precipitation usually falls as rain. Nevada City is known for its brilliant fall foliage in October and November.
By Car. From Sacramento take I-80 East to Auburn and then take 49 from Auburn to Grass Valley. From Truckee take I-80 west and take the highway 20 exit towards Nevada City and Grass Valley.
