Kingston, Ontario is located 35 kilometres east of Napanee on the Macdonald Cartier Freeway (Ontario Highway 401). Just east of Kingston is where you’ll find the St. Lawrence Islands National Park of Canada, operated by Parks Canada.
Ottawa, Canada’s national capital, can be accessed from Napanee via Ontario Highways 401 (eastbound), 416, and a small chunk of Ontario Highway 417 (part of the Trans-Canada Highway). It can also be reached via Lennox and Addington County Route 41 and Ontario King’s Highway 7 (also part of the Trans-Canada Highway). It is home to Parliament Hill, and the Canadian Football League’s newest team, the Ottawa Redblacks. It also provides a view of Gatineau, Quebec across the Ottawa River from the capital city.
The nearest port of entry into the United States is located on Wolfe Island just south of Kingston via two ferries along Frontenac County road 95, crossing into Cape Vincent, New York state. Another close port of entry into the U.S. Is located a little further east accessible via exit 661 off Ontario highway 401, which would hook up to Interstate 81, which connects that area to Watertown and Syracuse, New York. A passport is required for entering or re-entry into either the United States or Canada.
