Nanjangud [1] is a town in Karnataka State.

You can reach Nanjangud by road from Mysore. It is about 30 km from Mysore and around 175 km from Bangalore. Catch a state transport bus from Mysore or hire a taxi. Nearest Airport is Bangalore. You can reach Mysore by various trains or by a state transport bus. Both are very convenient and comfortable. It will be a two/three hours travel.

One of the biggest Hindu - Shive temple - Nanjundeshwara Temple. Shiva took poison to save the universe and the poison got stuck in his throat turning it blue.

Only South Indian food is available in the small restaurants near the temple.A variety of Banana, called 'Rasabale", very tasty is available here.

Hotels and Choultries are available mainly to cater the pilgrims. They are very cheap but not comfortable. Better stay at Mysore.
