Murge is in Apulia in southeastern Italy.

Murgia comes from tha latin word Murex, sharp stone. It a vast area of limestone hills with a rocky but fascinating landcape. In many way it is like the Bristish Moors. It has been an historically important game land; for this reason Emperor Frederick the II built "Castle of the Mountain", the most impressive hunting castle in Italy. Murgia Hills are divided between High and Low Murgia. The high part now is part or the "Parco Nazionale dell'Alta Murgia", a very interesting National Park.
