[edit] Get in
Münster shares an international airport with the city of Osnabrück, which is 25km to the north. By car travelers can reach Münster by the Autobahn 1 from north and south and Autobahn 43 from south east. Münster also has a major train station with connections all over Germany.
[edit] Get around
The easiest way to get around in Münster is to go by bike as the locals do. Münster is known as bycicle capital of Germany. Those who do not want to go by bike can take the bus. Every destination in the city can be reached on foot because Münster is not that big.
[edit] Understand
Münster originated as a monastery founded in 794 by the Frisian missionary Lüdger to aid Charlemagne's campaign to gain control over the Saxons. In 805, Münster was made a bishopric and, in 1170, it obtained its town rights. In 1648, a peace treaty was signed at the Rathaus, marking an end to the Thirty Year's War.
