Muar is a district, in the state of Johor, Malaysia. The main town in Muar is also called Muar (or Bandar Maharani). It borders the state of Melaka to its north, and districts of Batu Pahat and Segamat to its south and east, respectively.

By bus - from Kuala Lumpur (Puduraya) - RM15, 2-3 hours. From Johor Bahru (2-3 hrs). From Melaka (1 hr or less). Hourly service. By car - take the north-south highway, exit at Tangkak or Pagoh.

Tanjung Emas - postcard picture during sunset by the beach. Gunung Ledang - about 30 km from Muar town. There is a nice waterfall and you can also climb the mountain. Pantai Leka, Parit Jawa - a fishing village.

Watch the sunset by the beach. Ride bicycle across the town, across both bridge and by the beach. Bandar Maharani is so flat that you don't need to be strong rider to go anywhere. Take a bus ride to Gunung Ledang and get yourself soak in waterfall. Try to get yourself a motorcycle and ride from the town through Bukit Pasir, Lenga to Bukit Kepong and back to Muar town through Gerisek, Bukit Gambir and Serom.

Mee Bandung, Rojak Petis, Sate Muar and Asam Pedas are the signature food of Muar. And dont forget soto and pau maharani too. Here some tips: Eat Sate in the morning, mee bandung for lunch, rojak petis for afternoon and asam pedas parit jawa for dinner. Otak-Otak Muar is still a must-try delicacies.
