Muang Ngeun is a town in Northern Laos.

Muang Ngeun isn't really a town, but series of mostly Tai Lue villages spread out along the road.

[edit] Border from Ban Huay Kon
the main reason to get in Muang Ngeun is Passing the border From Ban Huay Kon (Thailand) Many don't know but the border with Thailand ( Ban Huay Kon – Muang Ngeun ) is open for a while (year or two ) also for foreigns . you can get a visa on arivel an the both sides of the border. ( you need to bring a picture for the visa ) the main problem is that the bus to UdomXai is at 12 from The Bus station. So if you don't want to spend a night In Muang Ngeun ( It is not so bad thing ) you Should pass the border in the morning.

you can go around by foot ( anyway you don't have a choice.. )

There are few temples in the villages

you can aake a walk on the main road and see the wats, there is all so nice view of the rice field The locles are not reguler to see falangs ( foreigns) so be preperd that evrey body will look at you and maybe point on you ( specelly kids )

not meny foreigns choose to spend the night in Muang Ngoen, But if you feel like digging into local life or you get stuck ( miss the 12 bus to Udom Xai) there are few gust Houses ( no english )
- Wong Chaeng Kae G.H, Near The bus station and the market. 6 rooms, double bed, toilet, cold water shower and a fan – 50,000 kip ( as to october 2010 ) edit

- A bus to Muang Xay at 12:00 from the bus station (near the market) - stops in Pak Beng also.
- A bus to Hongsa.
