Take the number 50 bus from the city centre - it goes straight down Moseley Road (A435) to Moseley village. The journey takes about 15 minutes.

Alternatively, take the number 1 or 35 buses which stop by Cannon Hill Park Gooch Street

Much of Moseley Village dates from Victorian times and is a conservation area. There is also a dovecote which pre-dates this at Moseley Hall hospital, on Alcester Road. It is occasionaly open to the public on certain Sundays during the year.

  • Share a hookah pipe with some friends at the Labouche Sheesha lounge, on Alcester Road in Moseley village. Unfortunately you'll only be smoking scented-tobacco, which is cooled through water. Most of Labouche's customers on Friday and Saturday nights are drinkers chilling-out before returning home.
  • Take a walk around Cannon Hill Park, on the Moseley/Edgbaston border (just head down Salisbury Road from the centre of Moseley Village). The park has a boating lake and is home to the Midlands Arts Centre. This has a theatre, an 'art-house' cinema and year-round exhibitions.
  • Go skateboarding or BMX-ing at the Epic Skate Park on Alcester Road. This venue also occasionally hosts live music.

  • The Zen head-shop on St Mary's Row sells all the 'hippie-shit' that you'd expect to find in Amsterdam.
  • Pottery and Pieces on St Mary's Row always has something interesting - pottery, prints, jewellery, and lots of other stuff.
  • Woodbridge Gallery on Woodbridge Road is a small gallery in a someone's back-yard! It's only open for specific exhibitions which last a few days at a time. These usually display work by local artists. There is no admission charge.
  • Moseley Arts Market 4th Saturday of the month, March - December. Specialist arts and crafts from the best local designer/makers and artisans
  • There is also a second-hand clothes shop on St Mary's Row which only sells designer labels. You can usually get one or two bargains.

  • Sabai Sabai on Woodbridge Road. Thai cuisine.
  • Kabbabish on Woodbridge Road. An up-market Balti House.
  • K2 on Alcester Road. A so-so Indian restaurant.
  • Bistro Lyonnais on St Mary's Row. The only French restaurant in the area.
  • Jade on St Mary's Row. A mid-price Chinese restaurant.

  • The Jug of Ale, 43 Alcester Road, Moseley (#1, #35 or #50 bus), +44 121 449 1082, [1]. Decent pub with a fairly young crowd. Live music usually W F Sa, rock and indie. £3-£6.
  • The Patrick Kavanagh, a 20-somethings pub named after the Irish poet.
  • The Prince of Wales, a traditional English pub recently bought out by La Plancha.
  • The Cross wine bar and pavement café.
  • The Bull's Head, which has an affiliation with The Custard Factory in the city centre.
  • La Plancha, a tapas bar opened in 2005.

Free internet access is available at King's Heath and Balsall Heath public libraries. Both are on the A435, one is about a mile south of Moseley, the other is about a mile north.

The Labouche Sheesha lounge, on Alcester Road, provides reasonably cheap internet acces in the centre of Moseley Village.
