Maramures and the Mountains Tour

Maramures and the Mountains is a "self-guided" train tour throughout northern and central Romania (all part of the region known as Transylvania).

The itinerary covers the northeastern Transylvania, known as the Maramures region, as well as the tourist-frequented Carpathian cities and resorts. It combines two fairly diverse regions into one dynamic itinerary. The itinerary, as opposed to the Transylvania triangle train tour, is not as frequented by tourists, and is therefore slightly more remote, even though, for those who like more secluded places and historical sites, it will be very enjoyable.
The itinerary visits the following destinations:
- Brasov
- Bran Castle day tour - "Dracula's castle"
- Predeal
- Sinaia
- Brasov (for the second time)
- Sighisoara
- Baia Mare
- Maramures historical and cultural attractions
Note that the itinerary is not a cycle tour and it starts and ends in a different place. The reason it starts in Brasov is because this is the easiest place to reach out to all the destinations. At the other end, in Maramures, travel is a bit harder.
